Step 1: Free Trial/ Into Class

Are you ready to make a change in your fitness and life? You have come to the right place! Here at Carpe Diem CrossFit we look forward to helping you achieve your fitness goals and growing with you through your fitness journey. Join a community of like minded people with the same goals and struggles that you may have faced.

Step 2: FUNdamentals
If you've never had exposure to CrossFit before it's going to be a little different than other group classes that you have done before. It is imperative to us that you are competent and comfortable in the movements that are common in CrossFit.

You will start off in our fundamentals class. It is a three week program followed by a week of class integration. Also during that first three weeks we will make an individual appointment to take you through your FRA (Functional Range Assessment). During our fundamentals classes you will have an opportunity to meet some of the great coaching staff that we have here at Carpe Diem CrossFit. Over those first three weeks we will have you in here two times a week and we will be teaching you the movements that you will need to know to be successful in classes. These movements range from gymnastic movements, olympic weightlifting movements, powerlifting movemets and cardio activities. You will also learn how to take care of your body a little better in terms of mobility and flexibility. We keep fundamental classes small and intimate so that we can get to know you a little better and so we can give you the attention that you need and deserve.

WHY DO I HAVE TO TAKE FUNDAMENTALS?

CrossFit includes many movements that are technical in nature. By completing fundamentals that gives us an opportunity to take the time to make you familiar and comfortable with those movements. We don't necessarily have the time to complete that goal in class. So you need to have that background information.
It will also let us get to know you a little better and you to get to know us a little better. We keep classes a little smaller so that we can spend the personal time that you need and get you the attention that you need to make you comfortable with the movements. As coaches we can also have the time to assess any limitations that you may have and give you some activities that may help you with those limitation. On the reverse side you will get to meet several of the Carpe Diem Staff so that you can feel comfortable with us and build a relationship that boads well for a good fitness jounrey.
Step 3: Group CrossFit Classes
After three weeks of technique you'll have a better understanding of CrossFit movements and you will have improved your fitness level. You will then be ready to integrate into group classes. After taking fundamentals you will then have a week membership where you can try different classes with different coaches and meet the great community that we have. You will see some of the people that were with you in fundamentals as well as a host of new people that were in the same place you are at one time.

Group classes are a great way to grow individually in a community enviroment. The great part of the community environment is that you will be able to go through your successes and failures with people that have gone and continue to go through the same things as you. CrossFit and fitness is a life long journey that is more fun with friends. Here at Carpe Diem CrossFit we look forward to helping you achieve your fitness goals and growing though you fitness journey.
What is CrossFit?
The CrossFit model is based around performing “functional movements that are constantly varied at high intensity.” CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program. The CrossFit program is designed to elicit as broad an adaptational response as possible. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize your proficiency in each of ten recognized fitness domains. They are as follows:

Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance
Stamina
Strength
Flexibility
Power
Speed
Coordination
Agility
Balance
Accuracy

The CrossFit Program was developed to enhance an individuals competency at all physical tasks. Our athletes (you are an athlete by the way) are trained to perform successfully at multiple, diverse, and randomized physical challenges. Which is basically what your life is; multiple, diverse and randomized physical challenges. The Carpe Diem CrossFit programming is meant to be scaled and suitable for all ages and physical conditions. Anybody that has a body can be an athlete at Carpe Diem CrossFit. The philosophy behind CrossFit training is an all inclusive lifestyle change. Our program is distinctive, if not unique, in its focus on maximizing neuroendocrine (nervous system and hormonal) response, developing power, cross-training with multiple training methods, constant training and practice with functional movements (Functional movements are comound movements. They usually involve multi-planar, multi-joint movements which place demand on the body's core musculature), and the development of successful diet strategies.

Who is CrossFit good for?
Everyone to be honest. I know that sounds crazy but it’s true. Parents, college students, adults, teenages, youth, many professional and elite athletes are all participating in CrossFit training programs. You will see athletes at the highest level in any sport participating in CrossFit Programming. That however, is not the interesting part. CrossFit has tested its methods on the sedentary, the youth, overweight, pathological, and elderly and found that these special populations met the same success as our most stable of athletes. We call this bracketing or scaling. We meet you where ever you are. If our program works for Olympic Skiers, the overweight, and sedentary homemakers, then it will work for you.

What is the CrossFit method and how is it different?
The CrossFit method is to establish a hierarchy of effort and concern that builds as follows:
Diet: lays the molecular foundations for fitness and health.
Metabolic Conditioning: builds capacity in each of three metabolic pathways, beginning with aerobic, then lactic acid, and then phosphocreatine pathways.
Gymnastics: establishes functional capacity for body control and range of motion.
Weightlifting: develop ability to control external objects and produce power.
Sport: applies fitness in competitive atmosphere with more randomized movements and skill mastery.

TESTIMONIALS
Jeff Furlone
"It's been a little over a year since I first walked through the door at Carpe Diem Crossfit. It was the best step I have ever taken for my overall health. The staff take the time to get to know you and your goals. They scale the workouts to meet you where you are at; adjusting for your individual needs and ability. We work out as a community, supporting one another with positive encouragement, and challenging ourselves to keep growing stronger, both physically and mentally. It's a true family atmosphere, and I find myself looking forward to the workout every day. It's about more than exercise. It's about being surrounded by people who are giving their best, and helping others do the same. Whatever your fitness goals, I believe Carpe Diem Crossfit can help. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did!"

CrossFit believed in me when I wasn’t able to believe in myself. Pushing the upper end of middle-aged, 20 pounds overweight, and feeling that creak in my knees, I didn’t like how my body was aging. I had been an athlete once-upon-a-time – 30 years ago, before kids and before a full time job. I craved that intoxicating feeling of strength and confidence that comes from feeling fit, not frumpy.

I won’t lie – it took four times driving into the Carpe Diem CrossFit parking lot before I finally got up the courage to walk in the door. That little voice inside doubting that I could do it. Those crazy tapes playing in my head kept saying “I am old, so out of shape, not tough enough, and, besides, CrossFit is only for super athletes, right?”. But one day, I did walk in that door and NOTHING has been the same since. The coaches at Carpe Diem don’t see a middle-aged, out of shape mom – they see someone who wants to be better. Coach Cindy and the others, patiently started me at the very beginning. Carpe Diem is a no-judgement zone and they encourage me to reach beyond my self-imposed limits. What I find inside the door every day at Carpe Diem is a group of people, challenging themselves to be better and each day cheering for others’ successes.

A year later, with great coaching and quiet encouragement, I am 15 pounds fitter, I eat better and I am stronger and “younger” than I’ve been in years. I have made friends and thrive on their support as I try new skills, refine older ones, and push myself to be my best. They each believe in me, and they help me believe in myself. Believe in yourself – give Carpe Diem Crossfit a try. We’ll meet you right where you are.
